On Saturday, May 11, around 4:30 p.m., Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Foot Locker store at the Dulles Town Center Mall for a reported robbery, injured person, and suspect who had fled.
There, they found that a teenager was leaving the store with stolen items when the employee tried stopping him. That's when the teen fired a Glock replica BB gun twice to the right arm and hand of the employee, but left the gun and stolen items outside the store before fleeing, police said.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the Dulles Town Center, and Dick's Sporting Goods was evacuated for approximately 14 minutes to search for the suspect. No other store operations were affected and the Mall itself was not closed.
The injured employee was treated by Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System and declined transport.
The suspect was found near a car dealership on Russell Branch Parkway at approximately 5:13 p.m., and had suffered a minor injury above his eyebrow during the altercation with the store employee. He was treated by Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System and at a local hospital.
The teen was charged with Petit Larceny, Brandishing a Firearm, and Unlawful Wounding, and is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Leesburg.
